Backuptrans iPhone SMS Transfer is a program that helps you save your SMS onto a computer.
This tool has a friendly and well-structured interface that makes your work very easy. When you first connect the device to a computer, the application pops up a window that displays 3 notes. It warns you about your phone’s password and it notifies you to turn off 'iCloud Backup'. The last note advices you to disable iPhone backup encryption. Then the application scans your device and shows all the messages stored on your phone. The right area of the program is split into two sides, one showing all the SMS and the other one displaying the conversations. It gives you information about the date, the contact, the number, and the content of each message. In order to back up the data, you need to select the 'Backup SMS to Local Datab' option. For transferring the messages back to your device, there is a similar option, 'Transfer SMS from Database to iPhone'.
If you are using an unregistered version, the application limits your usage to 20 SMS. Another restricted feature is the 'Transfer iPhone SMS to other iPhone'. As it suggests, this function could give you the possibility to move messages from one iPhone to another. Some other interesting functions allow you to export an SMS to your computer as CSV, HTML, text, or Word file, and even to search a particular word.
However, I encountered a problem while testing it. The application doesn’t back up the selected messages. It stores the same messages every time you try to back up. I consider this aspect to a big drawback because it doesn’t give you the possibility to choose the SMS you want to save. This problem may affect only the unregistered version. But I personally wouldn’t trust buying a program with this kind of error.
To sum up, the developers managed to create an application that can be very useful in situations when you want to format your iPhone and keep all your SMS, but because of the error I have mentioned, I don’t recommend this tool.
